Rhodora,

I use minimal filters in the field. The filters I typically carry and use are color balancing filters, the 81 series (A,B,C) and two in the 85 series. Since I use film I need to becareful when there is alot of blue light that I balance the color of the light reaching the film. I also carry and use 1, 2, and 3 stop soft step Graduated Neutral Density filters to help balance the contrast of the sky and foreground when they occur in the same scene. I also carry a polarizer to help reduce reflections off the surface of water or foilage. When in the field, I try to capture the scene as best as possible to contain as much useable information on the film. Then in the digital darkroom, I apply the necessary adjustments to bring the image to as close as I remember it, taking into account the full experience. Film, digital, or any camera for that matter can only capture the light to the best of its abilities, its up to the photographer to massage that information into an artistic expression of the experience. I am pleased that you are enjoying the photos, I do my best to present them in a manner that is faithful to how I experienced the light presented to me. I appreciate your feedback greatly. I hope you'll continue to enjoy my work. Barik Allahu Fiik.

An inspiring story. I have subscribed to your blog for many months now and I just love looking at the pictures that you post! You are a brilliant artist MashAllah. I just wanted to ask one question. Do you only use the camera or additional accessories such as filters etc to capture your effects? JazakAllah
