The sad thing Tyler, is that I am almost sure that I will have to go through these whoas again in the future. It just always seems to happen at the most inopportune time.

Stories like this make me not want to get back into hosting my own site. I hosted a WP blog for 2+ years and now that I look back, I spent a lot of time dealing with servers, hosting etc. Glad you got yours up and running - it is a pain when stuff stops working for no good reason.

ASAK,

Glad to know that you finally got around with web hosting issue. BTW, with all the web development open source CMS one does not need to learn php or asp anymore. ASP has always been easy to understand and implement and it still works perfectly well for small or even mid size websites.
As for php its more for technical gurus and very powerful and interesting. Now for endusers who want to benefit from php without learning to code in php, open source CMS is the answer. They get php code (which they do not have to write/code as it gets generated by CMS system). Further more, you get free components where you can easily enhnace your website by just downloading it. SOme components have a fee, but the basic static website and basic ecommerce /Shopping cart website is all free. You can use XAMPP for windows environment and you are good to go.
