Silence

A pine tree and its neighboring oaks remain still after an unusual winter storm drops a few inches of snow to the low elevation hills of the inner coast ranges of California. In the silence of the snowy landscape, a serenity is found that is otherwise not there. It is strange how things seem to be quiter in the snow. As if that white blanket that covers everything absorbs the erratic sounds and gives room for the mind to wonder and ponder the grandure of what winter means.
