Under The Cottonwood

A single lone leaf settles on a granite boulder on the banks of Lee Vining Creek under a cottonwood tree in autumn. Few leaves had fallen at the time of this visit along the creek and so this single leaf was starkly evident. As I sat there considering this composition my mind began to ponder why that single leaf landed where it did. A few inches further and it would have been swept away with the water and this scene would not have existed and you would not be reading this right now. Subtleties such as this can only emerge in the world from The Sublime.
