Technicolor Slime

The world is a cauldron where life and death battle continuously. Neither will ever win this ancient game. While life is filled with toil and trouble it is most often no better than the bittersweet demise brought on by death. However what is most interesting is what happens in between – the time after death and before new life emerges, a period of decay. And during this time, a third party comes into the game and feeds off the rotting body that was once alive and turns its downfall into an opportunity for regeneration - fungus. We rarely give fungus and its like their due in the grandeur of nature. However without it, the cycle of life could not continue. And when one such specimen, such as this multi-colored lungwort is found on the forest floor doing its job, it commands attention.
