{"id":1355,"date":"2011-12-25T23:47:54","date_gmt":"2011-12-26T07:47:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.organiclightphoto.com\/blog\/?p=1355"},"modified":"2011-12-25T23:47:54","modified_gmt":"2011-12-26T07:47:54","slug":"one-or-two-the-moon-is-still-new","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.organiclightphoto.com\/blog\/index.php\/2011\/12\/one-or-two-the-moon-is-still-new\/","title":{"rendered":"One or Two, the Moon is Still New"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.organiclightphoto.com\/detail\/Safar1433PanoDtl.jpg\" rel=\"thumbnail\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Safar1433Pano\" src=\"https:\/\/www.organiclightphoto.com\/images\/Safar1433Pano.jpg\" alt=\"Sunset on Christmas Day\" width=\"500\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sunset on a Quiet Day<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I have always been amazed when I awoke on Christmas day to find it to be peaceful and quiet. \u00a0Today was no different. \u00a0Everyone and everything just stops on this day and because of that, its is intensely quiet. \u00a0For that reason, I like this day.<\/p>\n<p>Today also happened to occur on a new moon. \u00a0As I do every month I go out to find the new crescent moon and to record it, as it used to be on film, but now with pixels. \u00a0As quiet as it is on any other day, today it was even more so. \u00a0As I stood out there on top of the Santa Cruz Mountains in the silence I felt like I was very far away from the things of man.<\/p>\n<p>I waited a while before the moon made itself visible as it emerged from behind the clouds. \u00a0It was a fine moon, crisp and clean in the sky. \u00a0As I worked photographing it my cell phone broke the silence. \u00a0I was called for a sighting report about the new moon. \u00a0I replied &#8220;I am looking at right now as we speak&#8221;. \u00a0I was asked &#8220;who else is with you?&#8221;, and my reply &#8220;I am alone&#8221;. \u00a0&#8220;You know two people are needed for a valid report&#8221;. \u00a0&#8220;Yes I know&#8221; was my reply and the call ended.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 342px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Safar1433WP\" src=\"https:\/\/www.organiclightphoto.com\/images\/Safar1433WP.jpg\" alt=\"New Moon of Safar 1433\" width=\"332\" height=\"500\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Safar 1, 1433<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I suddenly thought, one person or two, the moon is still new. \u00a0I laughed,\u00a0finished\u00a0up and drove home alone in the\u00a0revelry\u00a0of beautiful silence. \u00a0I started this 20 year\u00a0odyssey of looking for the new moon when no one else would, and now I still go out alone most months, only now with a reputation of the Moon-Sighter\u00a0following me. \u00a0And whether I see it or not, the moon waits for no one or two.<\/p>\n<p>Enjoy the coming winter. \u00a0Peace.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Today also happened to occur on a new moon.
