{"id":593,"date":"2010-04-05T22:21:16","date_gmt":"2010-04-06T05:21:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.organiclightphoto.com\/blog\/?p=593"},"modified":"2010-06-16T12:10:50","modified_gmt":"2010-06-16T19:10:50","slug":"brushes-of-light","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.organiclightphoto.com\/blog\/index.php\/2010\/04\/brushes-of-light\/","title":{"rendered":"Brushes Of Light"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Light, we see by it and at the same time it is invisible.\u00a0 The more I ponder about light, the more perplexed I become.\u00a0 Duality is its nature behaving as both a wave and as a particle known as the photon.\u00a0 We can recognize it as a wave after it interacts with an object and we see various colors.\u00a0 Its interaction with an object\u00a0takes place as if it is\u00a0a photon.\u00a0 When it is present we can see and in its absence we are blind.\u00a0 It brings a steady flow of information to our eyes and by it we interpret the world we live in.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 488px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.organiclightphoto.com\/images\/brushesoflightwpdtl.jpg\" rel=\"thumbnail\"><img loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Brushes Of Light\" src=\"https:\/\/www.organiclightphoto.com\/images\/brushesoflightwp.jpg\" alt=\"Brushes Of Light\" width=\"478\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Brushes Of Light<\/p><\/div>\n<p>But how we see the world and what is really there are two very different things.\u00a0 It is difficult enough to understand this for a stationary object let alone for one that is constantly moving, like water flowing in a stream.\u00a0 By the time you see the moving object it has already moved to a new point in space.\u00a0 Luckily, light moves so fast, 186,000 miles\/second,\u00a0that the distance that something can move in the time that its light reaches our eyes is for all practical purposes so miniscule that we can say we see it in its actual position in space.\u00a0 Further, its motion is so fluid that we see it as continuous.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Throw a camera into the mix,\u00a0which is\u00a0an intermediary between the photographer who experiences the object and the viewer who only sees the photograph, and it creates a departure from reality.\u00a0 Due to its technical nature, the camera can either freeze a moment in time or produce the illusion of motion as the object streaks passed its fixed lens.\u00a0 Then in the hands of the photographer, the photograph itself can be manipulated in such a way as to remove any reference to reality bringing about an abstraction that only hints at the natural presence of light itself.<\/p>\n<p>In the hands of the photographer, the one who writes with light, art is created through a simple tool of capture &#8211; the camera.
