Witch's Hat

Alone on the forest floor, the small and unassuming Witch’s Hat mushroom is making good use of its host as it decomposes it. It’s a small specimen standing only an inch or two off the forest floor. However it too play host to hundreds of smaller creatures making its hood their home. They move about its surface probably waiting for the mushrooms demise so that they can feast on it and complete their own life cycle. We are all caught in this game, and no one ever wins, except for the one who leaves behind something of benefit for those that follow. So I suppose fungus is the real winner.
