Among Blue Oaks

Early spring in the California oak woodlands, the blue oaks, still bare after an unusual winter, bask in the warm afternoon light. Their twisted and contorted branches along with the blue tint of their bark give a sense of darkness and foreboding, an almost evil looking forest. At times nature can be ugly, harsh and unforgiving, a place where truly only the strong can survive. Strong character, strong faith, and strong mind – three qualities that without will mean sure demise in a world that is full of dark and evil trees just waiting to grab hold the weak as they journey through life.
