Rippled Reflection
Like colored liquid glass, this water in a creek in the Santa Cruz mountains flowing over small stones and down a very shallow slope creates these ripples and standing wave forms. With light filtering through the tree canopy in late afternoon reflecting in the water surface, the sky and trees take on a very altered appearance. Abstractions in nature are not uncommon. In fact taken out of context, many natural scenes become artistic forms. Seeing them is another matter entirely. It requires concentration and observation - two skills that seem to be lost amongst us these days. If we only took the time to sit by a creek or under a tree and just look and listen we would find amazing things right under our nose.
