Slipping Away

The natural world is changing at an alarming rate. For decades signs of its change and possible decline have been manifesting itself. Yet we continue on blindly going about our ways with near complete disregard for the wake of destruction we leave behind us. In our arrogance we have forgotten how frail and weak we are. We have forgotten how to tread lightly on the Earth. So much so that even the smallest piece of sea lettuce can cause us to slip and fall to our demise as our bones come crashing and shattering on the hard rock the little plant clings to for life. While at the same time the lowly limpet, a small crustacean, can grip the stone so firmly that not even the mightiest of crashing wave can wrench it free. So the next time we think we are so high and mighty, maybe we should look down at our feet and realize that the bigger we are the harder we fall.
