Fields of Joy

Standing in the middle of nowhere on the Carrizo Plain surrounded by coreopsis and tidy tips for as far as the eye could see makes it just near to impossible to not be smiling. With an intensity of light so bright that forces onlookers to squint their eyes and a fragrance so sweet that it makes one take deep satisfying breathes. Its hard to look out on these fields of flowers and not feel joy racing through one’s entire being. This amazing gift from our Maker, this blessing of life, and this field of simple little flowers – these are the things that we tend to gloss over and take for granted. Yet it is these very blessings that we are being reminded of that are the most important thing in life. Count your blessings, large and small, for we have as many blessings as there are flowers in this field of joy. Then show gratitude to the Giver of Blessings for those gifts. For we never know their worth until they are taken away because of our own ingratitude and then we would give anything to have them returned.
