The Moon

A photo of the full moon. Who pays any attention to the moon anymore? At one time in the not so distant past, it was the object of everyone's desire to walk on the moon. Before that it was used to mark the tides, and still is. But even before that it was used to tell time, to mark the days and the months as they passed by. Many moons ago it was the celestial clock and we lived by its perfect precision. Today technology has reduced it to just a bright light in the night sky. Yet it was with modern technology that allowed this photo to be a reality. Using a modest digital SLR and a 500mm Image Stabilized lens coupled with two magnifiers and with an inherent magnification factor of the digital camera itself this moon was rendered with an effective 2200mm lens! The photo is so sharp that we can literally count the craters. Technology!
